My father spent a lifetime building things for other people. This one, I built for him.
Some promises take a generation to keep. FILO began with two men, separated by a generation but united by the same relentless pursuit of excellence.
As a young boy, Filoreto (for his friends, "Filo") left Calabria with his father in search of a better life. Through decades of hard work and entrepreneurship, he built a successful career. Yet one dream always remained just beyond reach, to own an olive farm and create an olive oil he could truly call his own.
His son, Marco, unknowingly followed a similar path. Leaving Italy for the United States, Marco pursued his own version of the impossible. After building a career advising many of the world's largest grocery retailers, he became fascinated by one simple question:
Why had the world's greatest olive oil never been treated with the same reverence as the world's greatest wine?
The finest wines celebrate their "terroir". Their vineyards are studied. Every harvest is measured. Every bottle tells the story of a place, a season, and an uncompromising pursuit of perfection.
Olive oil deserved the same respect. That belief became an obsession.
Marco began searching for the perfect estate, not simply to produce olive oil, but to fulfill a promise decades in the making. Nestled among the rolling hills of Scarlino on the Tuscan coast, they found a grove of ancient olive trees whose roots had quietly witnessed generations before them.
The farm was never purchased as an investment. It was purchased as a gift. A son fulfilling his father's lifelong dream.
Today, every bottle of FILO is produced with a philosophy rarely found in olive oil. Ancient trees. Exceptional Italian cultivars. Harvested at precisely the right moment. Scientifically analyzed and meticulously tested to maximize freshness, flavor, and naturally occurring polyphenols. Every decision is guided by both centuries of Italian tradition and the precision of modern science.
Because extraordinary olive oil is not created by accident. It is cultivated with intention.
The name FILO carries a double meaning. It honors Filoreto, whose lifelong dream inspired everything we do, while recalling the Italian expression filo d'olio, a delicate thread of olive oil that transforms a meal into something unforgettable.
Our hope is simple. That every bottle carries not only the richness of Tuscany, but the story of sacrifice, family, craftsmanship, and the belief that some dreams are worth waiting a lifetime to achieve.
